Just read some good news
regarding the new Bond project, “Casino Royale”.  Apparently
Pierce Brosnan isn’t out of the picture quite yet as Bond, which is
good news.  I know for alot of people Sean Connery is, and always
will be James Bond, but I think for people of my generation, the James
Bond character was cemented by Brosnan in Goldeneye.  I’ve watched
alot of the older ones and find Connery to be quite good in the role,
and Roger Moore to be totally unacceptable as a Bond.  His leisure
suit wearing just didn’t work for me at all.  Now given they had
been mulling over replacing Brosnan for awhile, and most of the names
that were tossed around were pretty brutal(Orlando Bloom?  WTF?),
so it’s good to hear Pierce might be back.

Amazing Race from last night was okay.  Nothing compared to last
weeks finish with a footrace to the finish, but okay.  The
brothers got eliminated, and while I was rooting for them, they were
really too stupid for their own good.  They made lots of blunders
and were never actually in the race this episode, so when they got
eliminated it wasn’t too much of a surprise.  Rob and Amber are
still owning the competition.  The old and black couples are
really dumb, having both arrived at the end only to have to go back to
finish the roadblock properly.  The gay guys hit lots of adversity
this episode, which seemed to be some just desserts for them given how
they perceive themselves morally superior, then are as two faced as can
be when people’s backs are turned.  They hate Rob and Amber for
playing the way they do, but at least they don’t pretend they’re
something they really aren’t.  Ron and Kelly were featured alot in
this episode and Kelly proved she’s pretty much a bible thumping idiot
for most of the show.

For your on this day in history moment, today is the 11th anniversary
of Kurt Cobain’s “suicide”.  It didn’t have that profound of an
effect on me at the time as I can’t say I was full on into Nirvana
yet.  I still remember this guy in my class, Sean Deyell, who
brought in a news clipping about it and posted it in the class for the
rest of grade 8 year.  In retrospect, it saddened me that he died,
but then again, it was probably for the better.  So many bands
decline and deminish their legacy as time passes, so Nirvana dying when
he did kindof kept the band from deminishing in everyone’s mind.
I doubt it would have lasted much longer before it all blew up for
Nirvana, one way or the other
