I’m finally getting ramped up for Star Wars. When the Special
Editions of Star Wars came out, it was during my Star Wars prime.
I used to eat, sleep and breathe Star Wars. That was the climax
of my Star Wars obsession. It petered off for awhile, then I got
super jacked about Episode I, then the same cycle, where my interest
waned. Well, I think my Star Wars interest is finally coming
back. I played the new Star Wars Trivial Pursuit DVD
Edition. It’s pretty fuckin sweet. I owned at the game, but
came up short in the luck department. I for some reason could not
roll the right combination to land me on the centre when I had 6
pieces. Les came from behind and on his second chance landed on
the centre and won the game. It was horseapples I say! All
the same it was a super fun game, and we only played the DVD section of
it. It was good to hang out with some old friends and have a good
time. Haven’t done that in awhile.
I picked up the new Clone Wars cartoon dvd at Costco. Still have
yet to check it out, but it looks cool. As well I’m reading
Revenge Of The Sith before the movie comes out. I liked reading
the book first last time, so I’m repeating the process I did from
Episode II. And last night I watched Empire Strikes Back, oddly
following my parents lead. They were watching it on TBS. I
thought this was really funny but opted to not say anything. My
Dad used to give me guff about Star Wars all the time, so it was
amusing to see them watching Empire. This was the first time I’d
watched Empire since I got the DVD series. When I picked it up I
just kind of did it out of habit more then necessity. So I
finally got around to it and I have to say, I’m amazed by the quality
and the changes they made. Alot of it makes a big
difference. Bespin looks amazing, as it looks like they redid
alot of the city shots and animations there. Still have yet to
watch Jedi with the debatable end ghost sequences.
I was thinking this while watching the movie yesterday. Am I the
only one who misses some of the music in Return of the Jedi? They
butchered the Jabba’s Palace musical number, and totally changed the
Ewok celebration music. I grew up watching versions of the movies
with both of these sequences, so they still feel out of place. I
like the music at the end, but it wasn’t as cool as the Ewok
music. And the Max Rebo Band performance in Jabba’s Palace was a
travesty. It was totally uncalled for and I would say really
detracts from the movie as a whole.
Ladder.
