Have you ever disliked a band simply because they had a stupid name? It’s happened to me numerous times. You hear about a new band that is all the rage among people in the know, yet still won’t give them a chance. With a name so stupid, is it possible for them to create music that is any good? Bands like [[tt:The Bravery]], [[tt:Death Cab For Cutie]], [[tt:Kaiser Chiefs]], [[tt:The Arcade Fire]] and [[tt:Athelete]] all had to fight an uphill battle with my personal bias against their names. If your band started the word ‘The’ after 2002 has been a tough sell. [[tt:The Stills]], [[tt:The Stands]], [[tt:The Dears]], [[tt:The Streets]], [[tt:The Shins]], [[tt:The Veils]], [[tt:The Magic Numbers]], [[tt:The Music]] and any one of the unrelenting hoard of ‘The’ bands really becomes a bit much at some point and a line has to be drawn.

If a band wants to find the path of least resistance into my exclusive listening circuit, you need to have a cool name. Bands like [[tt:Interpol]], [[tt:Broken Social Scene]] and [[tt:Bedouin Soundclash]] get the thumbs up my book for having awesome names.

Anyhoo, Torr was so kind as to provide some links to the new [[tt:Oasis]] b-sides. They are from the new number one single ‘[[tt:The Importance Of Being Idle]]’. Pass Me Down The Wine appeared as a bonus download from [[tt:iTunes]] awhile ago, but it’s decent. It’s a Liam penned tune. The second is ‘[[tt:The Quiet Ones]]’ which was written by guitarist [[tt:Gem Archer]]. I know a fair amount of people have been trying to track these down, so here you go.
