Microsoft to offer virus protection service

Now does this strike anyone else as odd? Microsoft sells you an operating system riddled with security holes and vulnerabilities, then sells you the means with which to protect your computer investment. It sounds like some kind of mob protection scheme, or someone poisoning you, then offering to sell you the antidote. It’s rather ludicrous. Why don’t they just fix the holes in their work instead of offering services to do the same thing? I know I personally have lost faith in Microsoft’s ability to provide a safe operating system, so them offering services to protect their own creation just seems laughable.

The fact that Microsoft even allowed this cottage industry of virus detection, spyware and malware programs to spawn is entirely their doing. I suppose it’s rather ironic that Microsoft felt that it was indeed profitable enough to get into the very industry their operating system flaws created.
