On Friday I participated in the Relay for Life Cancer walk. The event ran from 7pm Friday to 7am Saturday and I’m still dragging my ass a bit
2 days afterwards. I used to do the all-nighter thing quite frequently, but since I’ve stopped the whole party life it’s not too often I’m still
awake to see the sunrise. It was so cold during the night. It figures the night we have to spend all night outside is the first day of the
cold snap we’ve been experiencing around here. Even though I’m still feeling worse for wear afterwards, I’m glad I took part. The team was
put together by Corina’s mother, who herself is a Cancer survivor, and was comprised of mostly family and a couple friends. It was great to
spend time with everyone and support a good cause.

Donkey KongaAs you would expect, Saturday was pretty low-key as we slept in until about 3 and didn’t get to actually doing anything until 7. For some reason I had the impression that Father’s Day was on Sunday, so I made us rush out and buy gifts for our Dads, only to find out it’s next weekend. I apparently need to learn to read a calendar. When we got back from shopping we had a message from Kevin inviting us over to watch the hockey game, which I opted to do while Corina stayed home and watched girlie movies. While the hockey game was great, with Edmonton winning, the real fun of the evening was derived from playing Donkey Konga 2 on the Gamecube. While I had always wanted to give the game a try, this was the first time I knew anyone who actually had it. For those who don’t know what it’s all about, it’s a rhythm game that centres around the use of a bongo shaped controller to keep the beat of popular songs. It’s an absolute riot to play. There were 10 of us there and we would help the person playing by doing the clapping parts in each song. At first we were sloppy, then it became precision team clapping, as everyone was in perfect sync with the beat. It was quite the scene.

Sunday brought with it lots of soccer. I watched all three World Cup games, which was pretty sweet. Makes me wish I was off all month so I
could catch all the games on during the week. Among my friends we had a small World Cup pool and I picked an England vs. Czech Republic final. I know England will probably get bounced, like they always do, but I’m a sucker like that.
