Over the weekend I took part in a guys bachelor weekend up in Sauble Beach. This was the first time I had the chance to go to Sauble. I apparently don’t get out too much. This year was the first time I went to both Long Point and Sauble Beach, which most people have done many times. This occasion was to act as Noel’s bachelor party before he gets married in Nova Scotia next month, so about 12 of us made the trek North.

On Friday we got in, had a few beverages and played a very amusing game of soccer with a mini ball where it was deemed cheating unless you had a beer present in at least 1 hand at all times. At about 1am we decided to take a dip into Lake Huron, with the challenge being the first to get into the water waist deep would get 2 beers from Kevin. I didn’t manage to win the beers, but I was the only one who actually dove in(twice). I can now at this point in my life totally understand the appeal of those polar bear club swims. It was so cold, but entirely invigorating. It was definitely one of those so good to be alive kinda moments.

On Saturday we played lots of video games, as we had brought an Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and 6 Nintendo DSs. It was pretty sweet playing some feverish 6 player Mario Kart. This was the first time we had all got together to play some DS, it was pretty bad ass. We headed down to the beach to do some skim boarding as well as playing some beach soccer which was quite fun. In the evening we went to the Sauble Speedway to catch the last race of the season. I had never been to a race, so it was all new to me. I picked a couple of winners in the races and was quite impressed that a Dodge Omni won the 4 cylinder championship. My dad used to own one of those, which made it that much more amusing to me.
