Now why I bring these 2 words to the forefront of my blog is because I’ve noticed over the past while that there seems to be an absolute epidemic of idiocy surrounding these two words. I myself can’t recall a time when I’ve mixed the 2 words up. While they are only one letter off in their spelling, the word loose is quite often used in place of the word lose. Here is an anonymous post on a blog I just read that exemplifies this pox on the internet.
buying more PS3s will indeed put Sony farther into a loss. however, the more consoles they buy the more games are bought. their profit on games far supersede the loose on a console. i’m saying that the more money loose up front on console means the more money they can make in profit.
Now once in a given post I can understand the mis-use of the words, but twice, in consecutive sentences, is just too much for me. It pretty much shows me that this is the way this person honest to goodness believes the word lose should be spelt. And this example I showed you is not one of the few, but of the many who suffer from this affliction. I see it practically everyday in my travels on the interweb and it never ceases to irritate me.
