Harvee
So Free Music Friday makes it’s triumphant return this week. And since I have been a slack-o-saurus when it comes to this particular feature, it’s lucky I actually have a corker of a group to satisfy the seething malcontents. Without furthur ado, I bring you Harvee, a six piece from the Montreal suburb of Valleyfield. The band has been together since 2002 and recently released their debut album Sink Or Swim in 2006. Recent buzz on the band has them pegged as Montreal’s answer to Broken Social Scene, though I would almost tend to believe they’re a closer match to The Hidden Cameras then anything else. The band’s lyrics are predominantly English with a smattering of French thrown in for good measure. Their tunes mix a pop sensibility with great hooks and harmonies that remind me of the Polyphonic Spree. With the quality of their music I wouldn’t be shocked to be hearing a lot more from this band down the road.

As an aside, this post marks the 500th in the existance of this blog. Not too shabby if I do say so.
