The Superblues FC claimed its first title tonight. After a hard fought game where we held a 3-0 lead at one point we held on for a 3-2 victory. I think in many ways everyone on our team feels a little vindicated afterwards. Two years ago we played in another final while playing at Doon and many of us feel like we were screwed in some ways. In that instance we had been told that our game was at 2pm, only to find the start time moved 5pm. As many of us had driven from out of town we opted to kill time on the nice and sunny spring day. Most of the team got too much sun and by the time the game started we looked ragged and proceeded to get smoked by our arch rivals, who were properly alerted of the change in time and had the opportunity to prepare for the game in their usual way. This never sat well with many of us, as that loss was the only defeat we suffered during the 25 game season.

I ended up factoring in on what ended up being the game winner. I was screening the goalie when Kevin took a low shot that went right through my legs and into the back of the net. He didn’t see it at all. It was pretty cheeky, but it got us the result we wanted. Now we have a 2 week break until we start the second winter session. Hopefully we can keep up the good play and triumph again in April.
