If you happen to know me at all you’d be aware that I’m a big fan of the show LOST and the band Oasis. As I’ve watched the show it seems these 2 things have become inextricably linked. The ties between the show and the band centre around the island’s resident rockstar Charlie. The creators of the show have done a very good job of making the whole experience immersive, to the point that they’ve created an intricate network of websites, including an unofficial “fansite” for Charlie’s band Driveshaft. This site features many little bits that seem to tie the fictional band to Manchester’s finest. Here’s a list of connections between the 2.

1. The band Driveshaft is fronted by 2 brothers hailing from Manchester. The lead singer in the band is Charlie’s brother Liam. The band has also had its struggles with drugs and alcohol. Sounds kinda familiar.

2. The links page on the website has a link to the official Oasis website and a photo of Liam and Noel.

3. As this fansite is supposed to exist in the real world, it offers a rememberance section for the “LOST” Charlie that says ‘Kickin up a storm, since that day I was born’, then is captioned ‘Lyric: Charlie via Noel.’ This lyric is pulled from the title track of 1997′s Be Here Now.

4. In the download section there is also a really sketchy cover of Supersonic.

5. The lyrics page features a song called Slide Away, a song from Oasis’ 1994 debut Definitely Maybe.

6. And from this week’s episode “Flashes Before Your Eyes”, in Desmond’s flashback he finds Charlie busking on the street, playing Oasis’ biggest hit, Wonderwall.

Who knows what, if anything, Oasis has to do with the overall plot of the show. It’s just cool knowing my favourite band has a place in LOSTs deeply layers mythology.
