Update (August 22nd):Ottawa unveils new jerseys

The new Sens logos have leaked out before their official August 22nd unveiling. I’m quite happy with the changes, especially the 2D version. I found that one had really become dated since it had been unveiled in the early 1990′s, so it’s good to see it updated and modernized. Most people who see these logos seem to have the impression that they don’t see much of a difference, but that is a good thing. The line work has been beefed up, as is the illustration style that is popular these days. Both logos look generally meaner, employing sharper corners and angles in the features of the Senator character. The cape is better defined in both logos. In fact I had never even noticed that the old logos had capes until inspecting it closer.

Now all that leaves is the unveiling of the jerseys. This one I suspect could be sketchy. Speculation has been that they will probably go with something stylistically like their black 3rd jersey with the gold banding on the sleeves and waist. I’m crossing my fingers that this isn’t the case, as I never really liked the black jersey. It always seemed so garish.
