The defending Eastern Conference champions unveiled their new uniforms today at 6:30 pm at Scotia Bank Place. Overall I’m so-so on them. It almost feels a little too cookie-cutter for my liking given Ottawa’s red jersey was one of the more out there designs in the league. I like that they now feature the old-school “O” logo from the original incarnation of the Senators, but now I’m wishing they had used that updated 2D logo that I mentioned last week.

I do like the fact there has been a bit of a standardization of styles between the jerseys though, as Ottawa really had 3 totally different jersey designs going the last couple of years. Now the numbers are now standard across both jerseys, which was something that seemed off about their previous jerseys.

Here is Chris Neil, Brian McGratton, Jason Spezza and Chris Kelly modelling the new uniforms. I think it looks a little snug on McGratton.

Update (10:43pm): I just found another picture from HFBoard.com showing the backs of the jerseys. The numbering and lettering kinda reminds me of Team Canada uniforms from years past. I cropped the picture a bit, but I decided to blow up the part of the picture that featured the back of their socks. These things are absolutely atrocious. Having the sock banding tail off to a thin line just looks stupid. This was apparently a look what was sported in one of the recent All-Star games. This is definitely the worst part about their uniform.
