Hey all, I have made my triumphant return back to Canada after our honeymoon. I figure since I never really got the chance to do it I’m going to try and give a rundown of the wedding for everyone, since I have a backlog of topics to blog on of late. It’s such a blur that you kinda have to piece it all together in your head, since it just flies by so fast.
Friday before the wedding Corina and I both had off, as well as many other family and friends. The tent had been put up Wednesday and since then it had just been a flurry of activity trying to get things decorated. The tent was 30″ by 70″, so we had decided to hang white twinkle lights throughout the tent, which looked really cool when all lit up.
The whole theme to our wedding was various stylized circles in a colour scheme of brown, orange and beige, which was what I had designed the reply cards and invitations to look like. My mom and I weren’t quite seeing eye to eye when it came to the backdrop she was putting together, but we ended up sorting it out in the end. By the time everything was decorated it looked fantastic, even if it didn’t quite match what I had visualized in my head for how things would go together. I will readily admit that I may have been perceived as groomzilla throughout the whole planning process, but that was just because I had an opinion on things. Most grooms just sit back and let the bride sort things out, but that’s just not the way I am.
Friday night we had the rehearsal dinner which was a blast. My mom organized a gourmet dinner for everyone, which was quite tasty. I got all my groomsmen, Dad, Father-In-Law and my future Brother-In-Law a half yard of ale glass and holder, which I got laser engraved with each of their nicknames. I also had one done up for myself with my blog logo, which I’ll have to post a picture of once I have it in my possession again. These factored in well to the wedding, as all of us were drinking keg beer from these huge glasses all night, which was pretty amusing and made for some good pictures.
The morning of the wedding I had arranged a small 9-hole best ball tournament at Puslinch Lake Golf Club for 11 of us, so we had 3 groups. I’m so glad we did that. There were a few novice golfers(not that I’m that head and above novice myself since I haven’t golfed in 2 years), so playing best ball really worked and everyone had a great time. My Aunt, Uncle and Dad finished at +1, Dan, Sam, Steve and Wayne finished at +3 and Rob, Jordan, Les and I brought up the rear at +4, so it was pretty tight. I sunk a decent length putt on the last hole to finish the round on a high note. Below is me in the midst of teeing off at the first hole, which was one of maybe 2 good drives I got off all day. Corina bought me a new Taylor Made driver as a wedding present, which was a pretty sweet club.
After a Pizza Hut lunch(I don’t know why, but I had an intense hankering for Pizza Hut on the day of my wedding), we headed out to Heather’s(Corina’s sister and Maid of Honor) to get ready. My groomsmen and I were sporting chocolate brown, brown pinstriped Tommy Hilfiger tuxedos. The groomsmen had a orangy cinnamon vest, while I was rocking the brown on brown vest. The suits looked absolutely P.I.M.P.
To top the whole look off Corina and I both decided to rock some badass sneakers. Corina was sporting a classic pair Converse All-Stars, in chocolate brown, while I was wearing a pair of Adidas Superstars, in chocolate brown and tan. Badass.
