My life has pretty much been a blur of late. Corina and I made the decision to move out of our apartment after our honeymoon, so since then it’s been a flurry of packing and moving. Since our landlord decided to sell her house it’s been pretty tough on us. We had to deal with house showings during the summer and disrupting our preparations for the wedding. The real estate agent was enough of a douche that he thought he could finagle his way into showing our apartment on the day of our wedding, to which I steadfastly refused. The guy must sniff glue if he thought that was an okay idea. Our landlord had come to us in late August and told us that she had a conditional offer on her house and that we would need to move out October 24th. Well apparently that condition still hasn’t been met(as is evident by the for sale sign on the front lawn) so in late September our landlord insinuated to us that she would like us to stay on another month after the house deal still hadn’t closed. We pondered the idea, but decided to say screw her and move out by the end of October. We know she just wanted the extra month of rent so she wouldn’t be short, but that’s not really our problem at this point. I’m sure anyone who’s been through the process of selling their house can relate to the experience of being in limbo with regards to your house. It sucks, so we decided to just get it over with and move out.

Where we are moving is into Corina’s parents basement apartment. When I first met Corina this was where she lived. Now ideally this wasn’t where I wanted to be moving, but this is how things have played out. Corina and I had intended on staying in the apartment we are currently in until we got to the point we could save some money to buy a house. But since circumstance stepped in and we weren’t able to stay here, we opted to move there to save up some money and sorta regroup. Since I was without a job for 3 months and we just went through the cost of getting married, we figured that might be the best course of action. We figured that since we had such a great apartment it was really going to be tough to find something that wouldn’t be a step down for us. Corina’s parents have an 1800 sq foot basement with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen/dining room and a large living room with a private entrance. It’s a pretty badass place in its own right, so it will definitely do until we can get a place of our own. Plus it’s actually closer to work for me and shaves about 10 minutes off my commute.

Since we’re moving to Corina’s parents we’ve had the luxury of doing a gradual move, taking a car load of stuff there every day and limiting the amount of help we’ll need from other people. We kinda feel bad having asked for so much help for our wedding and previous to that our move in February. Today we moved a bunch of stuff over and assembled a bunch of furniture. Since we finally knew where we were going to be living we were able to spend some of the giftcards we received from the wedding and bridal showers. We were able to use some IKEA cards to score a dresser, 2 side tables and a lamp(all in brown) for our bedroom. So assembling our furniture in a box was a priority this weekend. I also took to the task of building a very complicated kitchen cart I had received for my birthday in February from my parents. I felt so bad about this thing because my Mom had went to lots of trouble to track it down, only to find when we got it home we didn’t have anywhere to viably put it in our apartment, so it feels good to see it all assembled.
