The image below may be emotionally scarring to some, so proceed with caution. I am the bearer of terrible news. Tragedy struck in my hometown of Paris, Ontario as some old lady plowed her car into the front of The Beer Store yesterday afternoon.

The most disconcerting thing about this is that is where the beers are! According to the Paris Star, alcohol was not a factor in this accident, but I would beg to differ. Just looking at the picture tells me that alcohol clearly factored into this accident. Amazingly no beer or people were harmed in this incident, though I’m sure many of those cases of Canadian and Blue were traumatized by the experience. I definitely sympathize for my friends in Paris who were forced to drive upwards of 15-20 minutes to get beer at The Beer Store in Brantford or suffer with the poor selection of beer at the downtown liquor store. Hang in there guys, I know these are tough times, but if you hold strong as a community you will pull through this adversity.
In all seriousness though, I definitely wonder how the hell this would have even happened. You might not be able to tell from that picture, but that parking spot the car is in is on an incline with one of those cement parking blocks in front of the space. It seems rather baffling that this woman’s car ran into given she would have had to turn into the driveway, then turn towards the building, then go up the incline, over the cement block and through the window. She must have parked and slammed the gas instead of the brake of something. It seems really odd either way.
