Last weekend Corina and I set upon reclaiming our apartment. In the last couple years we’ve managed to accumulate a crapload of stuff. Since we got married we have a lot of the miscellaneous stuff from that kicking around, as well as just general crap that needs to go. We spent most of the weekend working on the project and aren’t done. My parents are planning on having a garage sale, so hopefully we can find a home for some of this junk before donating it somewhere. It’s really amazing how much crap can be accrued through a couple of moves. The ironic part is that I want to get the apartment cleaned out so I can just get some more junk from my parents place. I moved out 3 years ago now and still have a couple of boxes of crap in their basement. Mainly it’s just a bunch of Star Wars collectibles and a whole wack of Atari 2600 games.
We’re also purging our wardrobes. Lately I’ve been trying to refresh my t-shirt collection, so it’s getting to the point a lot of old friends are having to go. I have a couple of shirts that I think everyone has. The ones where you intend to lose 15-20 pounds to fit into again after the shirt shrunk in the wash. So if you’re in the Cambridge area you might find some awesome concert t-shirts for a bargain at a local goodwill.
This week has also been the kickoff to my summer sports seasons. I played my second soccer game of the season on Sunday. My team is 0-2 so far, but I get the distinct impression that our team is actually going to be quite good. I don’t think too many people on the team are well acquainted with each other, so it’s going to take a few games. I got totally ripped off in our game though. I scored a beautiful crossing shot from the wing that the goalie tried to get but sailed over his head and into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The ref then called an offside on one of our players, which since he had no bearing on my direct shot on net shouldn’t have factored into whether it was a goal or not. By the end of the game I was even more bent out of shape about it when we ended up losing 1-0. It was uber-weak. And we played baseball Monday night. All I can say is that our team might need to spend some time in the batting cages, because we were pretty awful hitting-wise.
