Bell Expressvu (now Bell TV) already has an on demand Internet service (http://tvonline.bell.ca). They needed one as their satellite service is unable to provide on-demand to their customers (unlike cable TV). I'm not quite sure why Rogers is offering this web site except perhaps as an "us too" kind of service.

I totally agree that there is content out there available on various sites out there. The problem is that they are all on different sites. Hulu succeeded in being a unified platform to distribute content to the masses. Having to go to the individual Canadian content distributor, deal with varying levels of UI crappiness is a large part of the problem. Using sites like comedynetwork.ca is just cumbersome.

Our problem is the dogs breakfast of content distribution deals that we have in Canada. And they're all at each others throats because we've allowed these unwieldy media monopolies to take root. We have a phone company who offers internet and distributes satellite TV owning the biggest TV network portfolio. Then we have a cable company who offers internet and phone service owning their own television network portfolio. Throw in Canwest and Corus and it becomes pretty apparent why we can't get out shit together for a service like Hulu.

CTV, Global, CBC and others are already making their content available online to Canadians. So far – programming of them altogether is way better than one from Rogers. And you don’t have to be a Rogers' customer to whatch it.

Here is the list: http://diyfreetv.blogspot.com/2009/01/no-hulu-i...
